Web-Based Learning Opportunities

What is a web conference, you’re wondering?

There are many different kinds of web conferences (aka webcasts, web seminars or webinars), but most share the same basic format: An audio conference with Web-based visual aids. In other words, participants don’t usually see their presenters’ faces on their monitors, but they can hear their voices—either through their speaker phones or computer speakers—while watching the presenters’ slides or overheads on their computer monitors. Attendees can ask questions by typing them into a special Q and A section on their screens, and in some cases can forward questions to the moderator via phone.

As is true with any new technology, web conferences may sound intimidating at first, but nearly everyone who has participated in one agrees that they are extremely user friendly, requiring little or no “techno savvy” from you or your computer.

If you would like to recommend a topic for a webcast, please contact the membership services department at 614-310-7321 or membership@readingrecovery.org.
